Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties by Tom O'Neill
4.0
If you think by reading Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA and the Secret History of the Sixties by Tom O'Neill you are going to get the answers to exactly what happened leading up to the murders by the Manson family and why they did what they did, I mean isn't that what we all want a reason, even after 50 something years? You're not, what you will get is a whole bunch of holes in the original story, unanswered questions and so many new theories.
It's been over 50 years pretty much every key player in this horrible story is dead, but so many refused to talk, had interview with Mr. O'Neill and then took back their statements. The man was threatened multiple times in his over 20 years of investigating the family, our government, and the Hollywood elite with death or career suicide.
I believe what he has proven is quite important in this era of the American people knowing how corrupt our federal government is. This corruption started long ago, and it just continues.
I was not alive yet when the hippy movement or the Manson Family hit the news, but the horrific story, crimes, and lawsuits went well into my teenage years. We don't hear much about Charles Manson anymore probably since he died in 2017, but this book has definitely changed what I thought I knew.
Highly suggest this book for anyone who enjoys true crime, conspiracies, and fact checking old cases.
