This was a very fast read for me and I loved it. I loved how the book had an unsettling atmosphere throughout and was extremely unnerving, I also enjoyed how abrupt the ending was and how hopeless it was. It really added to the book for me. I really enjoyed the themes on feminism and race and the dark humour present. It had a lot of interesting things to say about marriage too and society’s expectations on woman and how we should perform and look and behave. Would recommend if you want an interesting sci fi feminist novel which is unnerving and extremely tense. The conversations on beauty standards were also interesting and cosmetic surgery. I also enjoyed the way the book felt like it was gaslighting you into thinking things were normal when they feel so uncanny while Joanna is being gaslighted and lied too.
