Both wholesome and deeply troubled characters who could easily be real. They were all described in such a way I could really picture them. Their dialogues made me snicker many times. The funny banter made for a good way to deal with the heavy topics in this book, first and foremost of which is how hard it is to get through to teenagers or have them open up about their problems.
In short, the story is sad, funny and hopeful at the same time. Skippy was the cutest character, though, and I feel really sorry for him.
