The Barrier Between by Stacey Marie Brown

5.0

This is the second book in the collector series and should not be read as a standalone.

I adore this series and I am so happy that this book didn’t fall into that dreaded sophomore slump. This story takes us to an adventure as Ryker tries to find a powerful shaman in hopes of getting his powers back. Along the way, we get to see that Ryker has his fair share of enemies and they all want one thing: The Stone of Destiny. We also get to delve deeper in Zoey’s past, to see where she came from and to understand how trauma and pain have etched themselves together to form this amazingly strong female character. The story progressed at a clipped but believable pace, the storyline was logical and well thought out. I absolutely adore these characters, their personalities shine bright and dialogue is believable and witty. The characters somehow seem to imbed themselves into your heart and you forget that they are supposed to be fictional. I LOVE Sprig, I am holding out hope that someday I will find my very own version of him! Ms. Brown has found a way to write a story so strong with a slow burn, sexual tension and plenty of action and drama. The writing is flawless and seamless. I am in awe of Ms. Brown and her creativity. Another 5 stars!
