I LOVED this book which was surprising to me given the only two Colleen Hoover books that I’ve read (It Ends With Us and It Starts With Us) were abysmal.

Much like those, there were a couple of teeny weeny things that bugged me - while reading the above mentioned two, I felt the biggest issue was the immaturity in her writing some of which came through at different moments in Verity. Not nearly as bad as ‘It Ends With Us’ or ‘It Starts With Us’ though, by far. It was minimal but still there.
And although it was important for the plot, the letter explaining Verity’s innocence is a little far fetched and disappoints me in all honesty. Yes it’s a great twist to find out that in fact Jeremy is the one who did this to Verity but I don’t like the reveal.

Buuuuut that being said there was so much more I really enjoyed about this one! I could not put it down, at the end of every chapter I just had to keep on reading, my excitement (and probably a little of my terror) keeping me awake and wanting more. That’s what you want in a book like this and I really have to hand it to the author for achieving that.
I also liked the way we switched between Lowen’s POV and reading Verity’s manuscript ourselves.
The twist in this read was delicious! The whole time the reader is put in a position of, obviously, rooting for Lowen & Jeremy and hating Verity only to discover that the manuscript was *possibly* fake and that Verity may not have hurt her children at all and then further that Jeremy was potentially dangerous?! Crazy twists and turns, but I like it! She puts you in a position where the reader has no solidity of truth so you’re left questioning whether this was her way to frame Jeremy for what happened and punish him for not loving her enough or whether it was true and Jeremy was the liar. That shit is wild and I love it!

Colleen Hoover is famed as an intense romance writer but I think her talents lie better as a suspense writer - this was golden to read
