twisty38 's review for:
On Chesil Beach
by Ian McEwan
Unsettling. Ian McEwan again weaves a narrative so vivid that one feels almost embarrassed to bear witness to the characters' drama. At times, I would rush ahead to forego the more awkward moments, then feel as though I had cheated. A generally unrewarding experience, with the moral sad, poignant, and expected. The message will last, or at least become subsumed within my consciousness, but the story is already beginning to fade.
