So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park

4.0

This was such a fun read with the theme of self empowerment and improvement. To call this a romance is not exactly right. Of course, there is some light and clean romance but it does not appear at the forefront. This is closer to contemporary fiction.

Jessie is an investment banker on Wall Street who is successful until she is fired without notice. There is rampant sexism and racism at her office and it's highlighted well by her author. She is sad and angry at first and then while crashing at her childhood home, she revives her YouTube channel which focuses on cooking. This presents a great career opportunity and her channel becomes a hit after an accidental interference by her mother during a live stream.

Daniel Choi is the epitome of perfection and success. He's the one every kid is compared to. He's a venture capitalist and a lawyer as well. He doesn't look the same now and he's got a sense of humour which Jessie falls for. There are some hiccups along the way and they regroup and Jessie reflects on what's important to her.

This was such a page turner and light for the most part. The issues highlighted in this book were very important for most women in corporate settings. A recommended read!
