The Cay is one of our middle school Battle of the Books selections for this year. It had been many, many years since I had read it so I needed a reread to sell the book. This is one of those books that desperately needs an updated cover. It is also one of those books that stands the test of time. It is filled with great action and adventure, but what I loved most was the character development. Philip's prejudice and attitude towards Timothy early in the book was cringe worthy. Keep reading! Hopefully now I can do better job getting it off the shelf.
