Shards of Time by Lynn Flewelling

4.0

I haven't devoured a series the way I did this one in a long time. Not only did the pages fly by, but jumping from book to book without pause came very naturally. Shards of Time may not be my favorite of the series, but I was thrilled that the book delved more into the horror genre. Everything from the ghosts to the demons to the crumbling ruins was delightfully eerie, and a wonderful change of pace. My only qualm is that the last fifty pages or so felt more rushed than they should have been, like the author was just checking off boxes. It felt less like a story and more like we were just being TOLD what was happening rather than being immersed in it.

All in all though, I loved this series, and plan on buying copies myself for whenever I inevitably end up delving back into Alec and Seregil's lives.
