The Deal by Elle Kennedy

Five stars. That seriously feels less for this book. My heart! Finally, a modern-day romance done right. Romance books have been so disappointing to me this year that I was seriously starting to be doubtful about why I ever read them. The one and only reason I read this book and started this series is because Steph Bohrer said this is her favorite and her taste is elite. Awesome, amazing, fabulous.
This book had me grinning ear to ear. The chemistry was so nice and their bickering is just so enjoyable it is my serotonin boost, or whatever the correct hormone in this case would be. So less miscommunication and a boy that is actually good at expressing emotions, I am so grateful for these because God I've suffered through those too much and just for once someone decided to take the logically sane route (for the readers, I am sure it would have given the writers emmense pleasure to see us suffer and smacking our heads becausewe cannot smack the character's).
And can I just say how perfectly the character of a narcissist is depicted in the father? The need for control, the unattainable high standards, the need to find faults one way or the other because he need someone to blame and someone to beat the life out of. The point at which he comes to threaten Hannah is also consistent with the patterns of narcissistic behavior. (All this is just my internet knowledge, no degree.)
At the beginning you could definitely tell that this was someone's first book but as it went on and the rhythm picked, it just kept getting better and better. I love that this is not a short book and that there was actually time for things to develop so that the nostalgic part, where the past moments are recalled due to something happening in the present did not feel forced.
I have read a book series somewhat similar to this concept and I just know that it feels awesome to see these main couples in a new story, even though they are just side character, it just melts your heart and makes you feel bittersweet. I will definitely read the whole series, may be not back to back, but I will know where to find a good read when in doubt.
