ninotchka39 's review for:
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
by Kate DiCamillo
I read this in fifth grade for a group book club. That year was a rough one. I had almost no friends, nearly every kid in my class picked on me, and, in addition to not so great home life, I had begun to be depressed. Though I didn't know that, and I was told that it was just laziness.
Reading was one of my very few escapes during the school day. I don't really get super emotional when I read, and at that point, I don't think any piece of entertainment had ever made me cry. But, I remember when I finishing this book in class one day: I put it down, asked to go to the restroom, and went and cried for a good minute. Not that it was particularly sad, but because I was so overwhelmed that a book could comfort me the way this one did. Thank you DiCamillo, and thank you, especially, for Edward.
