Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

'We say the rarajipari is the game of life,' Angel said. 'You never know how hard it will be. You never know when it will end. You can only adjust.' And, he added, no one gets through it on their own.

This book was a Christmas gift from a family member and I was frankly uncertain if I would like it. Not only was it a really interesting and informative study of the Tarahumara, it was also a collection of stories about ultrarunners and a thought-provoking meditation on corporate greed, evolution, and running itself. It lost a star for the more elementary-style writing, but it wasn't bad enough to reduce enjoyment.

This one gave me quite a lot to think about in my own approach to running. Most importantly that it should be approached joyously and that there is beauty in doing it with other people I loved the quote that running slow takes more bravery. I will also start implementing foot strength drills into my training and re-evaluate my shoe choices. This made me excited to start practicing much of it in my next few runs.
