Quite a complex story intertwined with architecture and life and ottoman history - I loved it! When I say ”complex”, I don't mean "difficult to understand", no. I'm referring to a detailed insight into the actions and emotions of the characters involved - able to generate empathy or naught from the reader. I loved the parallel between architecture as a form of building phsically, but also as a form of building emotionally. Elif Shafak very well weaves history into her own imagination, providing us with a wonderful story about learning, skillfulness, passion, megalomania, and faith. I definitely recommend it!
