I selected this for the 2018 PopSugar Ultimate Reading challenge prompt "a book set in the decade you were born." This slim volume is one to be savored -- the dreamy, ethereal language gives a flashback quality to the story and pulls you into the world of memories in 1970s Brooklyn. This coming-of-age story follows August and her closest friends as they navigate growing up in a neighborhood that is changing just as much as they are. This rumination on memory and transition from childhood to adulthood is achingly beautiful.
