Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas

“You guard yourself carefully. You don’t like to depend on anyone. You’re determined and strong-willed, and you’re decided in your opinions. Not to mention stubborn. But never self-absorbed. And anyone with you intelligence could never be called shallow.” He let his finger stray into the wisps of hair behind her ear. This book is a historical romance about Annabella who family money is coming to an end and her only option is to marry a wealthy man. And Simon who only wants her as a mistress and is a self made entrepreneur.
.
While I enjoyed this book I struggled with Annabella at first but throughout the book she grew on me. I loved Simon. He felt more morally grey during a time when men were suppose to be honourable. I especially loved the friendship between the wallflowers! I can’t wait to see it grow in other books!

Overall this book was wonderful. I enjoyed my time reading it and will continue with the series.
