Lost in the Moment and Found
by Seanan McGuire
While it’s not my favorite in the series, by far, you shouldn’t pick a fight with a story that’s personal - and this one bled “personal” right from the very first page. The first section is hard because Antsy is so vulnerable and you know that she is facing down true evil, the kind that hides behind smiles.
But then it feels… rushed. We don’t get to see Antsy change and grow so much as we have a switch flipped and suddenly she is different. I also don’t like that there’s a big chunk of the story that’s just… essentially skipping through a diary. It’s not Antsy’s story anymore.
Though I did really like the message that comes up in these books again and again: a choice made without knowing the consequences is hardly a choice at all.
