A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin

5.0

Another marvelous masterpiece by Martin ~

This book promised to fill up the emptiness left by Feast for Crows and it has delivered perfectly. With the last book we were left wondering about characters like Jon Snow, Tyrion and Queen beyond the narrow sea.  So we get know the story running parallel to Feast for Crows to some point.

Needless to say, the writing and the whole narration of the story is perfection.  A series that everyone should definitely read.

The story ~
I read the book over a long duration so I can’t exactly piece everything together but I will try my best :)

Tyrion

Tyrion ! My absolute favorite ! And this book become my favorite only because of large number of Tyrion chapters present ! He is having a lot of adventures in this tale ! Mostly unwillingly but that must makes his parts best to read about ! His entire journey from his father’s privy to Meereen is pure gold ! Quite an inspirational character to be honest. I want him to become the hand of queen Daenerys at this point.

Daenerys

Daenerys is upholding the Targaryen name quite perfectly. This character is all about boldness and perseverance with a slight touch of innocence. I didn’t like ALL the decisions she made but somehow they have worked for her so far. Marrying Hizdahr was my least favorite decision. And then not sailing west. I personally want her to remain the Queen beyond the sea only. Her lack of control of drogon was also frustrating but well, she is only a child. I can’t imagine what would happen with Khal Jhoqo though. He never did like her !

Arya !

OH ! How in the world all that manage to happen to her? I really can’t really see where her story is going with serving god of many faces.

Jon Snow

Another beloved character. His chapters are always so interesting to read. He was doing all he could to help people, both the wildlings and night watchers. But I guess, being that good in a world that twisted has its cost. He deserved a better death. But ain’t nobody getting to know how they are gonna die.

Stannis Baratheon

I was so up for him to rule the seven kingdoms but all that went to drain with a single letter.

Melisandre

I love this character way more than I should ! I think there is one chapter dedicated to her but that doesn’t make her any less valuable ! I just love her so much ! Jon should heeded to her warnings. I knew she wasn’t wrong, I just knew. But her intentions are still unknown, that mystery just makes me want to devour this character’s back story. I wonder what moves she will make now without Stannis Baratheon.

Lord Varys

This clever little bastard of an eunuch ! I never cared about Kevan Lannister but he didn’t deserve to die at all. He was supporting Aegon all this time ? I don’t know. When people are as clever as Lord Varys and as resourceful , they want everything for themselves. I have a bad feeling that he will betray Aegon in the end.

Aegon !

Okay, another fighter for the throne and the way Lord Varys described him, probably the best. He has been trained to rule ! Excellent.

All in all, the war between throne competitors is brewing quite good and stage is set for Winds of Winter. Like million others, I can’t wait. When is the winter coming ?
