This will be a top favorite book of mine for all time! I absolutely loved it and was crying by the end.
Listen - any time humans make contact with alien species and then try to communicate in these funny and wholesome rudimentary ways - I’m a goner. I loved loved loved Rocky. The humor here was just right. Sciency but very logical and obviously based on real Earthly science…with a bit of fantastical flair. Weir is great at engaging the reader and adding slow tension to the story.
Ryland Grace, our scientist, has amnesia and uncovering his memories was a whole trip in itself. You think you know where the plot is going and there’s a twist after twist. This story was fun and heartwarming but also a bit existential. Space is BIG and this book made it even grander. The relationship between Grace and Rocky had that found family theme which is a huge fave of mine and I’m sure many others.
Amaze!!! Literally 10 stars and forever in my heart. I cannot recommend this enough!
