Ruining Hattie by P. Rayne
2.25
Thought the blurb/description about this book was super interesting and got me to sign up right away. It was a fairly easy and quick read but I think it's mainly because I was skimming it a bit. There are just some scenes and storylines I did not care for.
I think the reason I have rated it low is because I really did not like and connected with the two main characters - Hattie and Bastion. I thought Bastion's revenge plan did not make sense. I agree that after what he had gone through with his mom and seeing her now with Hattie's dad and her brought back some bitter memories. Hattie was the perfect prey for him too. She was naive and sheltered. The way their relationship progressed was too quick for me. Wish there was a transition or an obvious trigger to the change of feelings. Feel like it went from I-hate-you-and-this-is-revenge to I-actually-love-you stage.
Overall, the book just wasnt for me. I can see why others love it though. Have to give props to the authors still. Love this writing duo but maybe I'll stick with their contemporary romances instead. I love their books, the Nest series is one of my faves.
Thank you Valentine PR for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
