The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood
4.0
It has been so long since I read Oryx and Crake that it was only right towards the end of The Year of the Flood that that story started coming back to me.
The Year of the Flood is the story of life before and during the Waterless Flood (the disease that destroys life as we know it), following several characters, all peripherally involved with the environmental religious group, God's Gardeners. Atwood does dystopia so well, so believably - it is very easy to sink into the world of the Flood. I wonder if she's going to revisit it - the ending of Flood is not quite as abrupt as the end of Oryx and Crake, but it's not far off.
