The Worst Guy
by Kate Canterbary
Sebastian Stremmel is the best Sebastian and I accept no other arguments. All praise to Queen Kleypas, but this is the Sebastian of my heart. He’s capital G Grumpy. Seriously -the trope was written with him in mind. There really isn’t a comparison other than Lucy Parker’s Richard in Act Like it (IYKYK).
This wasn’t my first Kate book, but it made me a super fan. The banter is top notch, and as a devoted fan of Much Ado About Nothing, my banter standards are impossibly high. Kate’s family of characters shine, as usual, and keep our MCs in line. I’m a sucker for an interconnected series, and while this one is rich with background if you need it, it reads just fine on its own.
Our FMC is a rockstar and thrives on HER own - but where Kate’s work is special is when she shows that together, life is even better. While the spicy scenes are plenty and worth re-reading again and again - it’s the banter I go back to each time.
