This was my first read from Ms. Tia and I was pleased! I have been reading more of the more popular books to see if they live up to the hype, and this one I absolutely LOVED!!!! ๐ฅฐ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐บ ๐ฉ๐บ๐ฑ๐ฆ-๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ต๐ฉ๐บ!!!
Tia Williamsโ writing style is so easy to get engrossed into. The characters were adoring. I loved Ricki and was rooting for her to tell her sisters where they could go (โ๐๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ง๐ต, ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ง๐ตโ ๐ค ). They treated her horribly, but when they had the audacity to come to Harlem and thought they would jab at her in her own homeโฆNo maโam! I was there for it (โThank you Ezraโ).
And Ezraโฆwow! I loved the entire storyline around his musical career and how it all tied into the two soulmates and the song that just couldnโt be finished until he met Lilโ Richard (๐บ๐ฐ๐ถโ๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ญ๐บ ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฏ ๐ฃ๐บ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฌ ๐). Pure genius writing!!!
Ms. Della and Tuesday, were amazing characters as well. I felt the love they had for Ricki and with a family like hers, she needed the devotion and support they poured into her. For Christmas I am asking ๐ง๐พโ๐ for a Ms. Della and Tuesday - ๐ฉ๐ฆโ๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฏ!
I โค๏ธ when every aspect of a book ties back to something so neatly. From Ezraโs background, to Rickiโs relationship with her family, to the rent party incident and Ms. Della, the piano, to even the little funny flora references, Ms. Tia leaves no stone unturned. No missing pieces with this one. No questions unanswered. ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
This book will never make me look at leap years the same! Maybe โMarch is really when things will make sense โ ๐ค
