the writing of this just did not work for me. it's choppy, tells more than shows and felt much more like the author was telling me her idea for the book rather than writing the story. this starts slow and never really picks up as much as i wanted it to. the ending was rushed and not very satisfying or impactful. the family stuff was a good way to learn ricki as a character, but it didn't feel like it came to anything by the end. very disappointed that this wasn't for me since most of the reviews are so positive.
