This was the first time I read a book like this one and it had its high and lows. Some of these essays were incredibly interesting (like the ones about Poe and Whitman), others were really emotional (like the one about the gull and the one about Sammy) but there were also times when I found it quite boring and I thought about DNFing the book.
Thankfully it picked up in the second half and at the end I am glad I sticked with it.
Apart from this, I must say I really like Mary Oliver both for the way she wrote and thought and for the way she lived her life so I really loved how this book let me delve deeper into that.
