Struggled a bit with this one. Rue has been dealt blow after blow growing up and trying to work through all the tough times. Cleo was supposed to be her friend yet when she pushes their relationship to a new level (a night in the sheets) he dumps her like a hot lava rock. Not sure what having sex had to do with anything if their friendship was so strong. I did like the fact there wasn't a baby abandoned in all this mess as seems common in LLV's books. Most all the h's end up pregnant within months of being with H's which can be a bit of a yawn after a while.
Cleo had some serious issues and his growth after the year away from Rue helps him see just what he'd pushed away from. Rue gives him another chance but like most women she doesn't accept his claim of love at face value. Lots of difficulty and struggle but they triumph in the end. It was good to see all the Dixie Wardens popping up and some of the folks from Kilgore.
