While we know some of the characters, this is a different kind of book than Space Between Worlds. I loved it all the same but it was a slower burn for sure. This one feels like a love letter to found family and the strength of community. It feels clearly like a story about those who are trying desperately to hold onto their faith in humanity despite what they’re experiencing. It’s gritty, it’s somber, it’s full of rage. It was right for me in this moment.
