A beautiful book about discovering the truth about your life, what it means, and who your friends are. Marin felt the need to completely walk away from her previous life (which you find out about in flashback chapters throughout the book) in order to preserve her own mental health, but was that really the right decision for her? Thankfully she has Mabel - her previous best friend from her Former Life - who is willing to help try and break down the wall that Marin has put up. But is that what's best for Marin? And will Marin ever be able to fully come clean about what happened since they last talked? This was so touching how immediately I felt protective of Marin, and how much I was rooting for Mabel to be able to break through to her. There was a tiny bit of a mystery element as you slowly learned what happened in Marin's past, too. Highly recommend this one.
