The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
3.0

I almost dropped this book because both protagonists were very irksome. Sophie was ridiculously whiny ALL the time and Agatha's low self-esteem and self-depreciation was getting on my nerves for most of the book! However, things became a hundredfold more interesting around 60% into the book; the last 40% flew by quickly and every character became much more interesting. For that alone, I'm glad that I haven't given up on it.
Spoiler My favourite parts were two different scenarios, each pertaining to a different protagonist: first, when Agatha thought she turned into one of the blonde typical princess only to find that the difference came from having the mentality of believing in her own beauty rather than any physical changes in appearance. The second was the moment Sophie quit whining and embraced her true self.

The ending was quite predictable but the journey was worth it.
