Was this a bad book? No. Would it have been better if the first and second book weee put together to just make one slightly larger book? Yes.
My problem was the intense lack of plot and character development in this book. I felt like until the last 30% nothing really happened. I’m ok with a book being light on plot so long as it’s character heavy, but this was neither.
What I did like was the last chunk and what we learn about Ernestas soul and the Emperor. I was really surprised by these little twists
If you absolutely love YA fantasy, give this a go. If not, there’s definitely better
