Besides phrases where I stopped and thought, "This is unnecessary and makes the protagonist sound trite," I enjoyed this read. Cameo Renae does a good job. While the rating was docked because a lot could have been cut out (the first three or so chapters of back story could have been summarized in a paragraph).At many times, the Guardians were overwhelming and hard to keep track of and distinguish, but this matched the experience of the protagonist who had just met them. I found myself towards the end realizing that I DID like the book even though it seemed rushed. But Renae places the protagonist at the catalyst such that all the fast paced events make sense for this story line. A better story than others I have read recently. I will be looking out for book 2 that comes out the first week in June. (However, not the prequal novella because I don't care about the characters THAT much after book 1...)
