Can't regret the lack of sleep
I was not going to stay up and read this book. I was going to read a couple of chapters, go to bed, finish it tomorrow.
By the time I remembered that plan, I was three quarters of the way through it and sulking because I couldn't just STOP at that point.
I didn't stop.
I'm glad and annoyed. It's fine.
Gemma is an interesting character. I enjoy her. I never at any point didn't. Which is surprising for me, but she has a practical head on her shoulders and a strong sense of duty. Both of these things I can appreciate.
Do I also want her and Leo to end up together? Of course. I'm a sucker for stories like this. Except Romeo and Juliet because oh boy those two are a problem.
But really like those two. I want them to end up together. I think he would make a good king. Preferably for her kingdom after they get married, but that's just a hope.
Gemma's bond with Grimley is precious. Reminds me of most D&D Rangers with a beast companion. Keep them out of the fights as long as possible because getting them hurt or killed is worse than the PC dying.
Leo's brother is a raging dick and I can't wait for her to kill him. He's the worst.
