Can't remember where this recommendation came from, but I devoured it very quickly. Left with "mixed" feelings in that I am not sure what the author's trying to tell me, but I'm fascinated and eager to recommend it to others. I wasn't that thrown by the "twist" towards the end; I get the impression I'm more familiar with a certain category of horror tropes than others who found it "shocking." However, I'm good with that. The "shock" isn't the point; the point is the layers of identity, class, race, privilege, and expectation uncovered by it. I will be thinking about this one for a long time.
