Three Men in a Boat
by Jerome K. Jerome
In the late 19th century, three young men (and a dog) take a two week journey up and down the Thames. If Jerome had just kept to the river journey itself, the book would be even shorter but there are many digressions, some funny, some rather sad.
I expect I would have delighted more in this classic comedy had I knew more about boating and/or English history. It wasn’t as funny as I anticipated but I did laugh out loud a few times.
