Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite by Natalie C. Parker, Zoraida Córdova
3.0

Average rating: 3.16 ★

As always, anthologies tend to be a mixed bag, but this one skewed towards being bad or just meh. Personal favourites were In Kind by Kayla Whaley and First Kill by V. E. Schwab.

Seven Nights for Dying by Tessa Gratton – ★★½☆☆
I started off really liking this, and especially the main character, but the pacing and amount of time skips left me feeling ver underwhelmed by the end.

The Boys from Blood River by Rebecca Roanhorse – ★★★½☆
Again, I really liked the beginning of this one. It had a nice, eerie vibe and I liked how it incorporated a sort of “summoning ritual”. However, this also made me feel slightly underwhelmed by the end. Not because of the pacing though. It had more to do with me expecting and wanting it to go darker, and dare I say bloodier, because I know Rebecca Roanhorse can deliver on that front (case and point Black Sun or Eye & Tooth in Out There Screaming). But maybe that was unwarranted on my part, considering it’s a YA anthology
