A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

3.0

Feyre is an impoverished human who kills a wolf to feed her family. When she discovers that the wolf was actually a fae, she must go to Prythian, the fairy kingdom with Tamlin, the High Lord of the Spring Court in lieu of the life she took.

This is one book I brought myself to read because my friends were gushing about it. While the initial few chapters were pretty intense, with Feyre's fear putting the reader on the edge, the book became very slow after that.

A huge chunk of the book is dedicated to mundane everyday things that Feyre does while in the spring court, and there's very little focus on the curse on the court.

The story does pick up pace in the last act. Although, the fact that the main villain is introduced very late does take some of terror away.

ACOTAR is one of the books you get very distracted while reading because most of the time there's nothing much happening.
But it's a book to be read because some events in it are very important for context while reading the rest of the series (which is actually really good!)
