Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
4.0
I found Piranesi to be such a strange and beautiful book! I started and finished it in an entire day because I couldn’t put it down.
Piranesi starts out like it’s presenting itself as a greek mythology/fantasy type vibe. But, through our unreliable narrator, we begin to question the world Piranesi occupies and if that’s even what the book is about. I don’t read a lot of fantasy but I really enjoyed this one. I almost wish it was longer just so I could read more from these characters. I think a prequel or sequel could do really well.
Pros:
- beautiful and strange world building.
- Magic meets fantasy meets science meets divinity
- really interesting and unlike what I usually read
- good twist
- kept me hooked. I literally read it in a day
Cons:
- i wish it was longer/i wish there was some sort of prequel to learn more about the academic and scientific aspects of Piranesi’s discoveries
