The Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell
5.0
Well - what a surprisingly delightful read!
Surprising because who'd have thought that a day-by-day description of a second-hand bookseller's business would be at all engaging, but it is.
No great literature here, although plenty recommended, just a charming insight into the perilously hand-to-mouth second-hand book industry, the quirky characters that haunt used book stores, and the threats posed to the trade by the Amazon behemoth - owner of all in it's path, including this site.
I loved this book and am currently planning my trip to Wigtown and their book festival!
