Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

The perfect quintessential fairy tale. Sanderson`s take on a Princess Bride/Stardust style fantasy adventure of a young woman from a small village striking out to a world larger than she could possibly imagine to find her childhood crush who had been lost at sea and potentially taken by The Evil Witch. From swashbuckling pirate hi-jinks to a duplicitous captain to dragon bargains, it really has everything you could want in a quick fantasy adventure on the high seas, with Sandersons personal twist of the seas are made out of spores that react violently to water. Suitable for all ages, a perfect entrance into the Cosmere for somebody put off by the lengths of Mistborn or Stormlight Archives or the heady religious overtones of Elantris.
