Truth and Repair: How Trauma Survivors Envision Justice by Judith Lewis Herman

4.0

This was a really great book to read to understand how survivors might desire justice. Instead of making some blanket statement that justice is punishment, reformation, or some sort of exile for perpetrators, Herman fleshes out the nuance of survivors needs and wants. By doing so, she begins to lay out what might aid in bringing peace and security to the lives of survivors.

It is challenging and weighty to make claims about what all survivors want or what it means to serve justice for them, but Herman does a good job at surveying many ideas an opinions to create this somewhat comprehensive book. Very interesting and thought provoking. (Read for my thesis).
