Vacuum in the Dark by Jen Beagin

5.0

So I did not realise this was a sequel. I believe it stands on its own, but you can tell that there must be a history with Mr Disgusting or her father that isn't touched upon here as much. Beagin switches between Mona's current relationships with the people whose houses she cleans and her turbulent childhood surrounded by people who harmed her. The narrative is jarringly dark in places, but is prevented from being too morose by the bluntness in which the transgressions are shared.
