The Play by Karina Halle
5.0
It's not a secret I'm Karina's fan. So when I was given the chance to read an ARC for The Play I was over the moon. Karina's writing is magical. She took a piece of my heart with every book she writes. Her words touched me in so many ways. I always feel a connection with her characters and she always has the perfect words for me. Words that I can relate myself and the feelings she brings me are amazing. And this one was not different.
After saying all of that, let's talk about THE PLAY which like Lachlan, is a BEAST!
This book follows on from The Pact & The Offer. Lachlan is the cousin of Linden and Bram McGregor, “The Scottish trifecta of hot guys”, and Kayla is good friends with Stephanie and Nicola so both of them have been introduced in earlier books.
Lachlan McGregor, Mr. Tall, dark and broody. He is not only a sexy man, but one of those guys who has the biggest heart I have ever known. Even though he has some very dark demons lurking in his life he has overcome so much to get where he is, struggling with a constant fight to stay there. You need to know that this man has stolen my heart and I'm not taking it back.
Kayla Moore, such a great character. She was a feisty little thing, with an inner strength that had me in awe throughout the book. *There was a moment almost at the end of the book that made me want to punch her BUT I got it, she was not in her right mind.* She has her own issues that she needs to deal with, but that did not stop her to fight for the man she loved. And I loved her for that.
As I said before, both of them have their own issues but they see something in each other that can relate to, making them gravitate to one another. So when they are together you will feel their chemistry which is so intense...as the sex. Oh dear baby Jeezus, those moments were passionate, a real reflection on their feelings for each other. A little kinky sometimes but always with so much feelings that was impossible not to feel it.
I have to mention that I love the way Karina described the cities where her books take place, I fall in love with every country she introduced me. So San Francisco & Edinburgh has been added to my to do list.
An emotional read, with the perfect amount of drama and angst, an unforgettable romance, a pinch of humour, and some of the steamiest sex ever.
Ahh so many feels, just for you to have an idea, I was crying after reading just the prologue! After that, I was completely hooked into Lachlan and Kayla’s story, which is going to stay with me FOREVER!
As you can see, I adored this book from start to finish. Miss Halle knows exactly what a reader needs.
(Brigs needs his own book).
