**A book with a weather element in the title**

At first I was taken in with this book completely - but then came Gwenhwyfar. Rarely before have I read about such an unlikable character as her in this book. She was childish, stubborn, narrowminded and selfish. All the things I never imagined Guinevere to be. And I was really not liking it. Until I realised the true genius of Marion Zimmer Bradley. Taking on a new interpretation of the Arthurian myth takes a world class author - and with this book Bradley proved that she was such an author. Before I started reading this I thought her new breath to the scene of Arthurian fiction was to tell the story from the point of view of the women who made Arthur, but in that I was mistaken. Bradley turned the story on its head - commonly I would say that Arthur was the true hero of the story, with Lancelot and Guinevere unwilling and undeserving villains. Normally I would say that Morgana le Fey (or here, Morgaine of the Fairies) was the true villain in the story of Arthurs myth. But this is were Bradley turns it around. In making Gwenhwyfar such an unlikable character, she turns Morgaine into the true heroine of the story. Lancelet then becomes the doting fool who falls for the beauty of an unataible and unsympathetic woman while Arthur becomes the weakwilled king who bends to the wills of a barren, cheating wife, breaking his oath to his makers and family. This was truly a work of genius - I only give it four stars because I felt Gwenhwyfar was too unlikable, so I have a hard time believing that not just one but two men could fall in love with her and break oaths left and right for her sake and favour.
