This is a pretty straightforward post-nuclear apocalypse story with a surprising pro-feudal perspective. It's beautifully written, though -- and the strangest reframing of the counterculture movement I've ever read. Think a bit of a Randian Renfaire return to our roots thing. Required reading if you're interested in the history of post-apocalyptic lit, but I didn't find it easy.
