I was told to go in with low expectations. I probably should’ve gone in with lower.

Apart from the bigger issues of legal ethics and just unrealistic character decisions, there were so many small bothersome things that just should’ve been caught in editing or a quick Google search. Like that Virginia is a commonwealth so the case should’ve been Commonwealth of Virginia v. Morgan (not state), that Kelly’s eyes changed from brown to blue in a couple chapters, or overuse of the word “petite” to describe almost every woman and only the ones we’re supposed to know are attractive.

Oh and now the ending isn’t realistic anymore because Virginia abolished the death penalty in 2021. So if the book were set in post 2011 like I assumed it was, then the ending would not have happened.

Good for a hate read if you’re a lawyer or know any basics about the legal system and want to flex your knowledge of basic crim pro and professional ethics.
