Diablo by Cora Rose
2.0
2.25. Rounded down. Lacked depth, didn’t seem like there was any WHY behind either of them wanting one another besides physical proximity and a shared kink, even by the epilogue.
I knew nothing about Skylar despite meeting his family by the end of the book. I don’t know a single hobby or interest, barely even a reference to him being in the military. Super unclear about anything beyond his sex drive, that he’s borderline a giant, and he really really doesn’t want his family to meet his employer (who his dead dad also worked for).
And Diablo went from fun troublemaking to unbearably annoying very fast. He lacked the charm or character that have made a quality Murder twink like Felix from the Necessary Evils series lovable. Maybe if there was less property destruction or character depth beyond wanting to get railed by a giant and liking war hammer?
This was my first book from the author and I was bummed! I’ve seen a few people I tend to agree with disappointed but reference liking other books by her more, so maybe I’ll give a different one by her a try.
If you want a brat being kidnapped/protected by a big strong dude, stuck in close proximity, with spanking, steam, and humor, check out Jesse H. Reign’s Sainted instead. It’s a bit over the top for some people but I loved it so that’s my Rec.
