Ayana Gray’s writing is rich and immersive, pulling from African folklore to craft a landscape alive with beauty, danger, and magic. The jungle of Lkossa feels like a character in its own right—vivid, unpredictable, and steeped in myth. Reading outside of the usual European-inspired fantasy is always intriguing but Gray spun literal magic into this book. I seriously cannot wait to read the rest of the series!
