A Secret for a Secret by Helena Hunting
5.0

Kingston brings the chaos to Queenie’s calm and that is the theme to Helena Hunting’s “A Secret for a Secret”. In book 3 of the amazing “All In” series, Helena once again takes us through not only another hockey romance but on a journey through the lives of Alex’s friends and family which started back in “Pucked”. The inside jokes. The easter eggs leading up to “Little Lies”. The subtle hints of purple. Yeah - it’s all in here!

Quiet, wholesome, milk-loving, and rule-follower Ryan Kingston is a bad ass hockey goalie and because opposite attract, Queenie brings along her recklessness, impulsiveness, and chaos.

The chemistry between Kingston and Queenie is off the charts. He’s so gentle and loving with her and with all the emotional baggage she carries from her past, it was hard at first to receive all that loving from King.

There was so much about Queenie that I resonate with and perhaps that’s why I found this book my favourite of the 3 (well that AND the fact that King is one damn alpha hot athlete who I’ll wear a thong for any day). The story was paced well: not too slow for it to be deemed as a “slow burn” and not too fast that King and Queenie’s issues were resolved at the 11th hour.

What I valued especially was the characters from the world of HH. With their cameos and witty banter, the story of King and Queenie was a delight. It’s true what’s said about a favourite book couple: They found each other. In the words of Queenie, “He’s yin and I’m yang. He’s sugar and I’m salt.”
