First we must give a moment to this just stunning cover.

And then we have to talk about how incredibly beautiful and heart breaking this debut novel is. We follow four generations of Black women in a family from Memphis and we go through it all with them. There is trauma, historical moments,  tears, fear, loss, art, passion, love and so much more. The writing in this novel wowed me constantly with the descriptions of not only people, places or things, but with emotion and feelings and intangible thoughts. Reading as we jumped around and experienced the lives of these women and what they went through was raw and emotional, but so rewarding too. If you're interested in this book I highly suggest looking up content warnings because there are a lot, but if you think you're in a place to experience them it is very much worth it in my opinion.
