It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle by Mark Wolynn

The first half of this book blew my mind and I would definitely recommend this book to just about anyone because it really challenges you to reflect on your characteristics and your family history to unveil struggles you may be having. I appreciated that studies were used to back up the authors claims and that he provided exercises for the reader to walk themselves through the process. It's like a therapy session in a self-paced book. The second half of the book was a bit boring to me, things seemed repetitive and I wasn't having as many breakthroughs, but am I still glad that I read it. I think I just scored it a little lower because it is non-fiction which can tend not to be as entertaining, so I often found myself reading quickly just so I could be done with the book. But overall, would recommend, I think it showed me a lot about myself that I was oblivious to.
