My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: It is a bold task to take the person who became kind of the villain in book 1 and make her a character you unabashedly fall in love with in book 2. But Abigail Hing Wen did that and more. I wish we had seen more introspection about what happened in book 1, but I loved how the author developed the characters individually and together. I loved the dual POV. This book addressed the weight of family expectations/societal expectations, neurodivergence, family dysfunction, and more in an extremely thoughtful way. I also loved the representation of women in tech and the "bro-ness" of the space.
I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it. Abigail is extremely talented, and I can't wait to read more by her. One of the better YA/NA series I've read in a long time. Though I do wish we saw a bit more introspection about what happened in book 1, I do feel the author did a good job with this one. That's my main knock though, and only one.
Content: Some high-level sexual content appropriate for 16+. Drinking and some strong language.
